Sometimes in life, you are lucky enough to come across people that inspire you to be the best at what you do.  I was lucky enough to have so many great teachers throughout my early learning process and professors throughout college that inspiration was all around.  But, even with all of these great people in my educational career, it was not until I met Mrs. Ellen Smith that I knew I wanted to be a different kind of teacher.

She finds the time in her hectic day to treat each and every student like they are unique and special.  This wonderful woman never made students feel bad about the fact that they could not sit still or pay attention to every word she was saying.  Mrs. Ellen found new ways to redirect behavior in a positive way.

That is why when I was given the opportunity to preform my own research and interview a member of the education community for a feature story I chose to start with her.  She deserves to be recognized for the way she uses the Montessori Method to help children begin their educations.
